Free From The Works of the Devil

Lyrics

If we're dead to sin
How can we live any longer therein?
Christ destroys the works of Satan
In those that believe on Him
So why worry about the things
The devil's gonna try to do
For with the Spirit of God inside
Nothing can harm you

Chorus
Free, from the works of the devil
Since the Spirit came
Bondage Jesus has bound
Free, more free than an eagle
Where the Spirit is
No sin can be found

So why do I have
To worry about the devil
And why bind myself in fear
Of doing evil
For since the Spirit came in me
He gave me a different nature
Now I'm free from sin
Present, past and future
(To Chorus)

Bridge
So why worry about the things
The devil's gonna try to do
For with the Spirit of God inside
Nothing can harm you
(To Chorus)

About This Song

This song was written in 1981. The Apostle Paul asks a great question in Romans 6:2. If we're dead to sin, how can we live any longer therein? The truth is that most of us live our lives as if we are not dead to sin. We still live as though sin remains an important part of our lives. But implores us to understand that not only is sin not important to us anymore, we are dead to it. We have resurrected into a different world in which sin does not live. Paul says that because of this, we should walk in newness of live. And the Apostle John adds his amen to this by saying that the reason Jesus came into the world is to destroy the works of the devil. So let us be free from the works of the devil. Let is be free from sin present, past and future. Let us walk in newness of life.
